About

Forever Colours Children’s Hospice was formed to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood. The support that is offered will extend to their families, to support families to deal with the possible emotional and physical challenges they face and to make the most of life.

"Together We Climb"

An intrepid team of Forever Colours staff, family and friends are joining together to take on the challenge of a lifetime – climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!

In January 2024, our team will embark on one of Earth’s great challenges to raise funds for our charity, so it can continue to support families for years to come.

We will be aiming to raise funds from every corner of society to help us reach our target of £100,000.

So far we have raised £29,500 of our £100,000 target!

29500

About the challenge

At over 19,000 feet (5,895 metres), Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak, and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world. Located in Tanzania in the east of the continent, it offers climbers a vast range in terrain, from hot, dry savannah at the base, through heath and moorland, to a rocky, ice-capped summit. Most treks to the top and back down take between five and nine days to complete—for those who can withstand the severe changes in altitude.

Best of luck to the team in their training for what will surely be the challenge of a lifetime!

How we will use the funds

The climb will raise funds to help us sustain and grow our incredible charity in the years to come.

It will go towards helping children such as Rayan, diagnosed at 10 months old with a condition called Infantile Epilepsy Encephalopathy TBC1D24. Unfortunately with this condition he is unable to talk, walk and relies on a feeding tube for nutrition, and has multiple daily seizures. According to Rayan’s family, Forever Colours has been a “lifeline” for them. We will continue to be there for the family with the help from fundraisers such as the Kilimanjaro climb.

Help us reach our target

We are currently organising the best way to collect funds for the challenge.

We are limited by online platforms such as JustGiving as they do not allow us to show funds donated privately outside their websites, but we are working on a way to do so.

In the meantime, if you would like to donate or help us raise funds for the climb, please enter your email address below and we will get in touch shortly.

Thanks!

Mont Blanc fundraiser postponed due to Covid

Depending on which way you look at it, we have either some good and bad news. The bad news is, due to enforced quarantine restrictions due to Covid-19, we have had no choice but to postpone our ascent of Mont Blanc to June 2022. The boys on the climb are obviously disappointed by this news. However, now that we have been given our new dates of 19th June 2022, we realise it is in fact a great opportunity.

We knew there was always a risk of this happening due to the ongoing problems presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our new confirmed date actually gives us more time to be prepared for the climb, and most importantly raise even more funds for an amazing cause. Training doesn’t stop and we want nothing more than to smash our target of 30k now that we have been given more time.

More training videos coming your way as well as lots of fundraising events.

If you’re interested in being part of the team, please get in contact. Similarly, if you have any other ideas and want to raise money for the charity, then please contact Jules directly, jules@forevercolourshospice.org.uk

    Where it all began

I was pottering around in the kitchen when suddenly, I heard my phone ping and light up light up. I looked down on the phone I saw familiar name flash up on the screen. I open the message and it read “can we meet I need to talk to you about some stuff?”.

Stuff? What stuff? What even is, stuff? Even though I was a little confused I replied back saying “Yeah cool, sure, when is good for you?”.

It was arranged that we would meet the following week. It was a week of thinking what could this stuff be? The day arrived and the all so familiar face arrived at my door. We made tea, ate cakes, made small talk for some time. In the back of my mind, I was thinking the whole time “when are we going to get to the stuff?” I would never be so rude to ask out right. Then suddenly, my friend blurted out something that would change the course of the next few years for me; “Do you want to set up a charity with me?”.

I sat in silence for a minute or two trying to processes what she had said. The words going round and round in my head. I had question after question. What? How? When? Then the light bulb moment. I don’t care about that. What, how and when will take care of itself, it just didn’t matter, we would work all out. I knew I wanted to do this challenge more than anything else in the world. So I just said, “Yeah, when do we start?”.

That was the moment that Forever Colours Children’s Hospice was born. That was where our journey began.
