Join us for our first horse racing fundraiser evening

Forever Colours is putting on its first horse racing fundraiser evening!

On November 25th, we’ll be hosting a fun-packed evening at The Red Lion pub in Milton Keynes.

You’ll get to watch and bet on some exciting horse races from the past, and if your horse wins, you’ll get half the prize money – with the other half being donated to Forever Colours Children’s Hospice.

There’s also the opportunity for individuals and businesses to “sponsor” each race for £30, with the sponsorship money being added to the fundraising total for the evening.

On the evening there’ll be a live compere and a band to follow, so you can dance the night away whilst celebrating your winnings!

TRYKA LED supports Forever Colours

Forever Colours is hugely grateful to TRYKA LED Ltd for making us their preferred charity partner.

Hertfordshire-based LED lighting brand TRYKA LED Ltd will be supporting Forever Colours by raising funds before and at the upcoming LiGHT 23 Expo in London.

For three weeks leading up to the event – and at the event itself – TRYKA will be selling tickets to their raffle, with the draw taking place on the final day of LiGHT 23 (22nd November).

They have generously donated the following prizes, with the proceeds from the ticket sales going towards the Forever Colours cause:

  • 1st prize - £1200 of external TRYKA LED fixtures to enhance your garden
  • 2nd prize - £600 of interior TRYKA LED fixtures to enhance your kitchen, lounge etc
  • 3rd prize - £100 Amazon voucher

The Forever Colours team will be joining TRYKA on their stand at LiGHT 23 to raise awareness of our charity and its purpose, and to help the TRYKA team sell as many raffle tickets as possible!

The draw will be made by the Director of LiGHT 23, Paul James.

The Challenge

Over the space of 1 week in September, 8 very brave and crazy individuals, will take on the challenge of an endurance climb to the top of Mont Blanc. At 4,810 meters, Mont Blanc is the tallest peak in the Alps. Our brave team will spend 3 days altitude training and 4 nights in mountain huts as they brave treacherous terrain and conditions to reach the summit.

The 8 mad men attempting this are:

  • Oli Finn
  • Mark Tilley
  • Paul Sawyer
  • Benji Sargison
  • Ben Lander
  • Magid El-Amin
  • Phil Parker
  • Jules Adams
  • Martin Garthwaite

As we get closer we will update you with more news and fundraisers that you can get involved in and help the guys get to their goal of £30K raised.

The Fundraiser

No matter how hard the challenge is that the boys are undertaking, we are under no illusion that the pain and difficulty of this challenge is temporary. We are looking to raise money for families that go through pain and hardship everyday and need the support of Forever Colours on so many levels. £30k will pay for two carers to have five children on their case loads for a year. The families that the hospice support through a number of different services have life limiting or life threatening conditions as well as families who have children who suffer from PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).  Through family activity days, respite at the family home, play therapy, sibling support, advocacy, there are lots of ways Forever Colours support the families.  However, the charity rely solely on funds raised through public and corporate donations.  Raising this money is vital for the support of these families. If you would like to support and help raise funds, then please follow the link below. Thank you for your support. And good luck to the boys climbing Mont Blanc!

Parent Pamper Packs

My eyes are closing yet I can’t sleep.

Thoughts and ideas are going around and around in my head. What can I do to make a difference to our children while they have been in lockdown?

Then it came to me that maybe we should be thinking about all the amazing parents and carers that have had to do all the schooling and caring themselves with probably very little sleep and no rest or break at all.

I jumped out of bed first thing the next morning and heading to the shops to put together some Pamper Packs for our parents and carers. It is just as important to support them in these difficult times as it is to support their kids

There is nothing quite like knowing that someone is thinking about and respecting all the hard work that you do.

Easter treats for the kids

Covid will not stop us!!! If we can’t bring our kids to an Easter event, then we will bring an Easter event to the kids. Even though nothing can replace seeing our family’s face to face the weather is looking brighter which always makes you feel better and it excites us even more because it means that our Easter baskets will bring even more enjoyment too our children.

With the support from our local Morrisons and our wonderful carers and shopping and warping mad Junior Ambassadors, we have been able to put together some exciting fun for the children this Easter holiday.

The children have all been delivered Easter eggs, eggs for hunting with little basket to collect them in, as well as super cute bunny’s with matching ears and Bonnets to decorate. The response that we received from our family was overwhelming and the cheeky smile filled my heart with warmth and joy. I am left with drive to put more ideas to paper and plan something for the next school brake. Could this be the one we finally are able to meet face to face again? I can’t wait.

Our open day 2nd Feb 2020

It’s the 2nd of February and the day has finally arrived. It feels like such a long time coming. Our once upon a time is starting to come true. “True” is a massive word for us as its kind of where this all started what now seems like a lifetime ago.

Today is the day of our very first event, it’s our time to shine. It the time in which we actually got to meet families for the first time. The emotions that fill the air have been a mix of nerves excitement and now success.

The build up to the event was full of many first, our first contact with family’s and professionals our first shopping trip our first id badges. First referral forms, first consent forms, first leaflets and banners.

We had 12 family’s 15 volunteers and Singing Hands (who by the way, are massive ideal to our small friends) attended our event at the Thomley centre. I remember going to visit the Thomley centre and sitting in my car after thinking I can’t wait to hold an event here and to share this beautiful space with the people that drive our passion.

The day has been a massive success with lots of smiles and laughter.  There was soft play, sensory play bike riding, arts and crafts, cooking with the amazing smell of chocolate in the air. The best of all there was lots and lots of signing and signing. The sound of the children’s enjoyment is a sound like no other and one that we will never forget.

Forever Colours will be forever grateful for this day and can’t wait for the next one. We got this!

Official charity registration

I really don’t know where the last 6 months has gone. All the change paired with the isolation of lockdown; you would think that time would stand still. I don’t know about you but I have been left thinking; “What have I done with all the spare time”. I see lots of different posts of home projects and the amazing home schooling that people have done I feel guilty that I have done none. I didn’t read a book. I didn’t compete a Netflix series what did I do?

It was not until this morning that I reminded of what I have been doing. 1191073 1191073 1191073. I could say that number over and over again. It’s my favourite number in the whole world. A number that will hopefully support so many families and children. A number that I dream that lives on for generations.  I opened up my emails this morning and saw the Title my stomach went into knots and I had to take a few deep breaths begore I plucked up the courage to click the link to open it. Today the  28th of August 2020 Forever Colours Children’s Hospice officially became a charity. I guess that is a pretty impressive lockdown project.
